Gervinho has given Wenger his word to join Arsenal

Todays L'Equipe says Gervinho has given Wenger his word he'll join.

The Ivorian international and Lille star Gervinho has finally agreed to sign a contract with Arsenal. Despites some rumors linked with Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City, Gervinho has given his words to Arsene Wenger to join Arsenal as soon as possible says Todays L'Equipe, French nationwide daily newspaper devoted to sports.

The 24 years Lille star will probably sign a new contract for Arsenal by the end of this week. The probable contract fee would be around £12 millions. Apart from Manchester City involved in this fight, who had offered more wage for him than Arsenal, Gervinho has clearly mentioned not to join any other clubs.

Gervinho would be a perfect replacement for Bendtner and Chamakh at front line. He has scored 28 goals in 67 appearance at Lille. 5 goals in 19 appearances in international matches from Ivory Coast is pretty impressive. The 5'11" Lille star has set a high profile in Ligue 1.

He had rejected offers from Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City. Seb Boisseau, Gervinho's agent had confessed,

"It is difficult for me to discuss the situation because it is confidential, but it is true that many clubs in England have contacted us concerning the availability of Gervinho."

“But we have not only spoken to clubs in England, but also Italy, Germany, Spain and France. The player wants to leave Lille and his priority is a move to England, however, it is difficult for me to speak about one club for the player. He wants to leave and has contacts with England and he is determined to play in the Premier League next season."

“I do not know,” continued Boisseau. “For the moment he wants to think about Arsenal, Manchester City, and other clubs. It is difficult for me to comment, as you have good information and sometimes wrong information, but it is not good for me to comment, or for the clubs, or for Lille.

“For the moment it is confidential, and we will wait until Gervinho makes an agreement with one club."

“I think a decision will be made regarding his future by the end of the week.”

It was an issue a week before but the agreement between Boisseau and Arsene Wenger has come to an end after they gave their word to sign for Arsenal. Gervinho and his agent Boisseau will be signing a contract by the end of this week. Arsenal who is currently in need of Striker would be happy to welcome him.

Arsenal fans would be happy to see him wearing red and white shirt after Arsene Wenger has shown some positive response in Transfer Market.
