Stoke City Vs Arsenal Match Review

Stoke City 3 - 1 Arsenal

Arsenal has yet lost another match against Stoke City this season. Arsenal without Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas and Squillaci was not in the game although they tend to show some real Arsenal game in 2nd half but was not enough.

A candle which was having its last moment glow has now completely faded out this season. The last chance to show some magic has now been confined by Stoke City after making Arsenal down by three goals to one.

Kelvin Jones was the first player from Stoke City to score against Gunners after silly foul commited by Arshavin on the area near corner flag which was taken by Pennant to Kelvin Jones. The six yard header from K. Jones was inside the net which was the most silly mistake Arshavin had ever made. Aron Ramsey who was hero against Manchester United was not really on the game who gave away a possession on 38th minute of the game to Jermaine Pennant created a simple passage for himself to shoot a goal from 25 yards although goalkeeper touched the ball. By halftime Arsenal was 2 goals down.

Robin van Persie was the only player to score for Gunners on 8oth minutes of the game. The shot from 18 yards was inside the net which made the score line 2-1 but the time was not in favor of Arsenal as Stoke City quickly repaid another goal for Arsenal within a minute and wrapped the game with scoreline 3-1.

A big lost at Britannia Stadium has confirmed Arsenal out of title race.

"Something has gone - you can see that today. It was a disappointing performance. The competitive level for Stoke was higher than ours and overall I think we lost the game because Stoke defended much better than we did, with much more purpose. Basically, there is not a lot to say. That is the Premier League. If you don't turn up it is the same competitive spirit in every game and you can lose everywhere, especially at Stoke. Stoke defend well and make it difficult for you and the most important thing is not to be 1-0 down - and that is what happened with the first free-kick (for Jones' goal). In a game like that we turned a lot around but we did not penetrate enough and we were not dangerous enough." Arsene Wenger
